birth photography | Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Birth Photographer

i have just realised i never shared the beautiful birth stories that i captured last year here. i had been so eager to photograph a birth for such a long time that i approached a couple of mummies to be, and eventually found  two willing participants.

the first was gemma, this was her second birth. she had a super speedy birth, which unfortunately for me meant that i turned up about 2 minutes after the birth of her son jackson. but i still captured some beautiful moments as they got to soak in their new arrival.

i received the call that gemma was in labour at about 7am, she had gone into labour in the wee hours of the morning, and i think they were a little reluctant to call me out of my warm bed. as soon as i hung up the phone, unbeknown to me, gemma was pushing. i arrived at the delivery room and excitedly knocked on the door only to discover little jackson had just been born.

but don’t worry i had more luck second time round so stay tuned.

baby riley | Lake Macquarie, Newcastle & the Hunter newborn photographer

sweet little riley so much wanted to be part of the action and did not want to sleep. it took lots of cuddles, pats, a dummy and two photo shoots to get those dreamy sleepy pics, but we got there in the end.

what a handsome little man- killer blue eyes and a fabulous head of hair, such a sweetie. he joins a proud mummy, daddy and big brother. what fun these boys will have together in a few years…

newcastle nsw australia | worldwide photo walk 2010

so after a morning “photo-walking” at maitland, i had a brief stop for lunch and headed in to newcastle for part 2 of my worldwide photo walk. this time i had no buddies to hold my hand and was a bit nervous, i got there late had a bag malfunction and felt totally out of place. but, i managed to find some people to tag along with, and everyone was friendly and willing to show off there piccies and equipment.  for three hours we wandered through the dead beat streets of newcastle and newcastle west, then on to the glamour of honeysuckle and along the foreshore. then my batteries were dead, not the camera batteries- mine!

when i got home i realised i’d left my name tag on from the previous session, and must of looked like the dork who brought their own name tag, so i was very suprised that anyone talked to me at all 🙂 how embarrassment

and the end result..
